Did you know there are two parts to an apprenticeship? On-The-Job Training (OJT or “working”) and Related Instruction (RTI). Over the course of an apprenticeship, an apprentice will need 144 hours of RTI. We know that sounds like a lot, but don’t worry; CareerWise can help with that. We offer support during every step of the way, starting with orientation.

Many of us struggle with finding the time and motivation to do self-paced learning. We all need that structured time, support, and motivation to get it done. To help with this, CareerWise has created LevelUp, a structured environment to begin coursework for industry certifications or leveling up your professional skill set.
Apprentices meet virtually every week, working asynchronously on assigned coursework. Time spent in LevelUp is paid-time by the employers, so apprentices join sessions during their scheduled work hours.
CareerWise works with supervisors and apprentices to create a customized syllabus consisting of online courses focused on earning a certification or industry specific training most essential to the apprentice’s role.
LevelUp is offered year-round to accommodate longer certifications and rotating schedules. Attendance counts towards Related Instruction hours.

As a supervisor, you have the opportunity to facilitate an empowering, life-changing learning experience for your apprentice. But how? Supervising a youth apprentice is definitely different from your seasoned employee. This session, specially geared for new supervisors, will prepare you to be effective and successful in this new role.
Supervisors dive into a session focused on how to forge productive relationships with young adult apprentices. (Yes, it definitely looks different than your typical adult employee!) We’ll cover youth in the workplace, effective training practices, and solutions to common challenges.
Information will be shared on the WHY and HOW to tackle onboarding and training plans, preparing you to launch your apprentice into the workflows and operations of your team, and the training and skill development they’ll need to become a proficient contributor.
We will also review the program requirements that are critical to have on your radar throughout the three-year apprenticeship journey.
What is implicit bias? Do you have implicit bias? Guess what … we all do! Our experiences shape who we are, and our dimensions of diversity—race, ethnicity, gender, height, weight, sexual orientation, place of birth, and other factors—impact the lens through which we view the world. In this training, hiring managers and supervisors confront the biases that can impact an equitable experience for students, and grapple with how to design inclusive processes.
Attendees will be able to recognize and acknowledge their own biases when making decisions, engaging with colleagues, and working effectively in today’s organizations.
