Dave Fulton, Ph.D

Curriculum Designer

David Fulton is a Curriculum Designer for CareerWise and will help design the educational tools to support the apprenticeships. For the past five years, Fulton was the director of the Denver and Rocky Mountain States office of Facing History and Ourselves, an international educational non-profit linking the study of history with ethical reflection and action. Earlier, Fulton was a high school teacher and administrator, and was the assistant director of Denver Public Schools’ Office of Character and School Culture, where he and his colleagues worked with dozens of schools to promote student character and academic rigor. He is co-author of Building an Intentional School Culture: Excellence in Academics and Character (Corwin Press, 2007). A graduate of Emory University, he holds an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in foundations of education and completed his post-doctoral fellowship in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He served as a consultant to the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Bhutan where he contributed to the first comprehensive report on their educational system. He enjoys tennis and hiking, and lives with his wife and two small children, Adele and Amos, who bring him great joy (but not nearly enough sleep).
